1 min read

EASTHAMPTON — The city has narrowed its search for a new police chief to two finalists: Carl Mazzaferro II and Chad Alexander.

The candidates emerged from what officials described as a competitive and thorough selection process conducted through an external assessment center.

Both finalists have demonstrated strong leadership qualities and a commitment to public safety that aligns with community values, according to a statement released by the city on Monday.

A private department meet-and-greet with the finalists is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30.

The event will give department staff an opportunity to engage directly with Mazzaferro and Alexander.

Mayor Nicole LaChapelle will conduct final interviews with both candidates on Thursday, May 1.

The mayor will make her selection following these interviews.

The chosen finalist will be officially announced through the appointment process to the City Council in mid-May.

Contract negotiations with the selected candidate will begin after the announcement.
