COHASSET — A crossing guard was injured Monday when he was struck by a vehicle outside Deer Hill School, according to police.

Officers responded to Sohier Street at about 3:45 p.m. after receiving a report that the crossing guard had been hit.

Upon arrival, police found the crossing guard with injuries to his hand and arm.

The crossing guard reported that a driver came too close to him and struck him with a passenger mirror.

He was treated at the scene and transported to South Shore Hospital by a Cohasset Fire Department ambulance.

The driver of the vehicle, an 85-year-old Cohasset man, was uninjured.

Police said the driver is being cited for failing to move over for a vulnerable user.

Authorities have requested a medical evaluation for the driver from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
