BARRE — The Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed 10 charges against Donna Robinson, 43, of Washington, including involuntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of Franklin Driscoll, 45, of Barre.
Robinson also faces charges of burglary into an occupied dwelling, two counts of firearm possession by a prohibited person, simple assault, and five counts of reckless endangerment.
She is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Barre.
The Vermont State Police began investigating the shooting after Driscoll died Friday morning, April 25.
Driscoll was shot once in the abdomen at about 5:25 p.m. Thursday inside a home at 879 N. Main St.
First responders transported him to Central Vermont Medical Center before transferring him to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he died at about 4 a.m. Friday.
An autopsy completed Friday afternoon at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the abdomen, with the manner of death pending.
Police initially detained Robinson during the investigation before arresting her on charges of burglary, simple assault, two counts of possessing a firearm as a prohibited person, and being a habitual offender.
Robinson was ordered jailed without bail and was originally scheduled for arraignment at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 28.
Investigators believe this was an isolated incident involving acquainted parties with no general threat to the community.
The Vermont State Police is working with the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office and several local law enforcement agencies on the case.
