NAUGATUCK — A Waterbury man was arrested Monday on charges related to a home burglary and theft of power tools that occurred last year in Naugatuck.
Philip Brown, 42, was taken into custody at Waterbury Superior Court on April 14 and charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree larceny, criminal mischief and interfering with a search.
The Naugatuck Police Department began investigating in April 2024 after receiving a complaint about damage to a home’s front door and missing contractor tools.
Investigators collected items from the property believed to contain DNA evidence, which were sent to the State Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
The forensic results helped police identify Brown as a suspect, according to authorities.
Police said Brown, who has a prior criminal history that includes burglary, refused to comply with a court-ordered search warrant during the investigation.
Brown appeared in court the same day for arraignment on the charges.
