Groveland man arrested at rest area on felony criminal mischief charge

GROVELAND — Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty announced the arrest of a Wyoming County resident on felony charges following an incident reported at the I-390 rest area in Groveland.

Deputies were dispatched to the location at approximately 6:30 a.m. April 10 after receiving a report of property damage at the rest stop.

Sheriff’s officials allege that Irfan Chaudhry, 46, of Warsaw, intentionally damaged property in the restroom.

Chaudhry was arrested at the scene by Deputy Mark Lorenzetti and charged with felony criminal mischief in the third degree.

He was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and later released with an appearance ticket.
Chaudhry is scheduled to appear in Groveland Town Court at a later date.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by members of the Patrol Division and the Forensic Identification Unit.
