Police arrest driver for DUI on Interstate 89 in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD — Troopers arrested a New York man on suspicion of driving under the influence after receiving reports of a vehicle swerving on Interstate 89 on April 13.

Thomas Dwyer, 34, of Long Island City, New York, was taken into custody around 11:43 a.m. after state police located his blue Subaru parked on the shoulder of Interstate 89 southbound near mile marker 37.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks had received a Be On The Lookout alert for a blue Subaru with Massachusetts registration reportedly swerving across the roadway.

Upon making contact with Dwyer, officers observed signs of impairment, according to police.

Dwyer was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing and later released with a citation.

He is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on May 14 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the DUI charge.
