GREENWICH — A New York man was arrested after allegedly entering a Byram apartment without permission and sleeping inside, Greenwich Police said.
Officers responded to the residence at approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 11 after receiving a report of an unknown male sleeping inside.
The resident attempted to stop the individual from leaving, but the suspect fled through a window toward Mill Street.
Patrol officers located and detained a suspect nearby who matched the description provided by the resident.
The individual was identified as Alexander Mendez, 35, of New York.
Mendez admitted to entering the apartment to seek shelter from the rain, according to police.
The resident later positively identified Mendez as the person found inside the apartment.
Mendez was placed under arrest without incident and charged with criminal trespass in the second degree and disorderly conduct.
His bond was set at $2,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court at a later date.
