Oneonta man arrested at Walmart on false personation charges

ONEONTA — A 41-year-old Unadilla man was arrested at Walmart in Oneonta after allegedly providing false identification to deputies and possessing a controlled substance, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.

Frank J. Sortano was charged with false personation, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree following the April 9 incident.

Deputies said Sortano intentionally misrepresented his name and date of birth after being informed that doing so was unlawful.

Authorities also discovered Sortano was in possession of a controlled substance during the investigation.

Sortano was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Oneonta Town Court at a later date.
