Woman arrested for DWI in school pickup line at Cato Elementary

CATO — A Martville woman was arrested after allegedly driving to an elementary school while intoxicated to pick up children on April 4.

Susan L. Maund, 47, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and attempted endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were initially dispatched to a possible domestic violence incident in the Town of Victory at approximately 3:58 p.m.

During their investigation, deputies were notified that the subjects involved were in a white car in the student pickup line at Cato Elementary School while students were being released.

Upon arrival at the school, deputies found Maund operating the vehicle in the pickup line.

Authorities determined Maund was under the influence of alcohol while driving to the school to pick up children.

Maund was taken into custody and transported to the Public Safety Building, where her blood alcohol content was measured at .22%, nearly three times the legal limit.

She was arraigned in CAP court and released on her own recognizance.

Maund is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ira Court at a later date.
