Three arrested in drug possession case during traffic stop in North Norwich

NORTH NORWICH — Three individuals were arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrests occurred on April 1, after members of the sheriff’s office stopped a vehicle in North Norwich for a traffic law violation.

During the stop, deputies discovered that the vehicle’s operator, Eric R. Manwarren, along with passengers Wendy L. Hackett and Damien M. Chernoff, were in possession of controlled substances.

All three were taken into custody and later released on appearance tickets.

They are scheduled to appear at the Town of North Norwich Court on a later date.

Eric R. Manwarren, 46, from the Town of Norwich, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a D felony.

Wendy L. Hackett, 41, also from the Town of Norwich, and Damien M. Chernoff, 38, from the Village of Oxford, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, an A misdemeanor.
