DUDLEY — A 65-year-old Alabama woman was arrested Friday after allegedly driving recklessly in the Dudley Police Department parking lot and leading officers on a pursuit through multiple towns.

Officers reporting for duty at approximately 6:46 a.m. observed a Ford Mustang accelerating toward unoccupied police cruisers and abruptly stopping, according to police.

When Officer Dylan Reney attempted to contact the driver, she accelerated away from him.

Officer Reney activated his cruiser’s blue lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver continued driving in circles around the parking lot.

Police said the driver sped toward the one-way entrance of the parking lot when Sgt. Chandler Boyd attempted to stop her.

Officers pursued the vehicle into Webster, where the driver avoided the first set of stop sticks deployed by Webster Police.

A second set of stop sticks was deployed in Webster, but the vehicle continued into Douglas.

Douglas Police set up additional stop sticks on Route 16 before the vehicle eventually pulled into a parking lot.

The driver, identified as Rebecca Roden, 65, of Hanceville, Alabama, was taken into custody without incident.

Roden was charged with failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of drugs, marked lanes violation, and speeding at a rate greater than reasonable and proper.

She was transported to Dudley District Court for arraignment.
