WINDSOR — A Windsor man faces multiple charges including felony weapon possession after leading sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed motorcycle chase from Windsor into Pennsylvania and back on March 29.
Kirk K. Wayman, 25, was arrested after his motorcycle became disabled following the pursuit that began around 7:21 p.m. when deputies observed two motorcycles without license plates traveling on Main Street.
According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the motorcycles fled at high speed.
Deputies pursued one motorcycle through multiple roads in the Town of Windsor and into Hallstead, Pennsylvania, before the rider headed north on New York Avenue/Route 7.
The pursuit continued through the towns of Kirkwood and Windsor, where authorities say the motorcyclist drove recklessly, crossing into oncoming traffic and nearly striking another vehicle.
After returning to the Village of Windsor and traveling north on Route 79, Wayman’s motorcycle became disabled, allowing deputies to take him into custody.
Deputies discovered a switchblade knife on Wayman during the arrest.
Wayman faces charges including third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony; third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, a Class A misdemeanor; second-degree reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor; fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor; and 20 traffic violations.
Following processing at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Wayman was arraigned at Central Arraignment Part and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Windsor Court.
