WORCESTER — Police arrested a 30-year-old man accused of carjacking two women on Highland Street after a multi-agency search effort.

On April 3 at approximately 7:41 p.m., Worcester Police officers responded to a reported carjacking on Highland Street.

Two women told officers they were inside their vehicle when a male approached and demanded they exit the car.

The women reported the suspect reached for his waistband and raised his shirt as if grabbing a gun.

After the women exited the vehicle, the suspect drove away in their car.

The women were not injured in the incident.

Worcester Police quickly identified the suspect as Frank Nieves.

Later that evening, Massachusetts State Police located the unoccupied stolen vehicle on I-495 in Westborough.

State Police collaborated with Hopkinton Police and Westborough Police in the search for the suspect.

Westborough Police eventually apprehended Nieves, who was then taken into custody by Worcester Police Detective Bureau officers.

Nieves was transported back to Worcester and charged with armed carjacking.
