New Jersey man arrested with cocaine in Morrisville

MORRISVILLE — Vermont State Police arrested a New Jersey man Thursday night after finding more than 50 grams of suspected cocaine base during a traffic stop.

Shaquille Jones, 30, of Jersey City, was taken into custody around 8:48 p.m. on Vermont Route 100 at Laporte Road.

The arrest followed a traffic stop conducted by troopers from the Berlin Barracks, Vermont Drug Task Force, and the Vermont State Police K9 Unit.

Jones was charged with possession of cocaine under Title 18 VSA 4231(a)(3).

He was lodged at Northwestern Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail.

Jones is scheduled to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division at 12:30 p.m. Friday to answer to the charge.
