MOUNT MORRIS — A Dansville woman faces multiple felony charges after allegedly making fraudulent transactions and stealing money intended for property taxes, Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reported Friday.

Amanda L. McKinney, 40, was arrested on April 2 following an investigation that began in February.

The investigation started on Feb. 7 when deputies met with an individual who reported that someone they lived with had failed to pay property taxes.

A second complainant reported fraudulent transactions made to their bank account.

Investigator Ross Gerace led the initial investigation, which alleges McKinney made fraudulent transactions and stole money that was meant for taxes.

On March 28, Investigator James Merrick received another complaint about fraudulent transactions from a separate bank account involving a different victim.

McKinney was charged with one count of felony grand larceny in the third degree, two counts of felony grand larceny in the fourth degree, one count of felony scheme to defraud in the first degree, one count of felony identity theft in the first degree, one count of felony identity theft in the second degree and one count of petit larceny.

She was processed at the Livingston County Jail and arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part.

The judge released McKinney on her own recognizance, as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the New York State Bail Reform Act.
