ANDES — Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced Friday the arrest of a 75-year-old local resident on weapons charges following an investigation into alleged threats made to an insurance company.

On March 28, members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a report that Robert A. Meredith of Andes had allegedly made multiple death threats to insurance company employees.

Investigators interviewed Meredith at his residence regarding the allegations.

During the investigation, authorities discovered Meredith was in possession of a semi-automatic pistol without a New York State Pistol Permit, according to the sheriff’s office.

Meredith was arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony.

Following processing, Meredith was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Andes Town Court at a later date.
