POUGHKEEPSIE — Five people were arrested following a drug raid at a North White Street residence after community members reported significant drug activity and expressed fears for their safety.
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit executed a search warrant at the location on April 3.
During the raid, agents seized narcotics packaged for sale, scales, packaging materials and U.S. currency.
Jeremyah Newton, 18, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree.
Newton was remanded to Dutchess County Jail with bail set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $240,000 partially secured bond, with additional charges pending.
Jaishaun Watterson-Suarez, 20, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and remanded to jail without bail on an unrelated case.
Jabari Gordon, 26, faces two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and was remanded to jail with bail set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $240,000 partially secured bond.
Nicholas Brown, 28, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and released after arraignment as required by New York State law.
Shawn Magliocchino was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and remanded to jail with bail set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $240,000 partially secured bond at 10%.
The investigation began after the Drug Task Force received tips through their confidential tip line and subsequently made controlled narcotics purchases from Newton at the residence and nearby locations.
Multiple agencies assisted with the operation, including the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit, Patrol Bureau, City of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of Hyde Park Police, and New York State Police.
