2 arrested in Schenectady with 8 pounds of cocaine

SCHENECTADY — Two men were arrested Tuesday night after state police discovered approximately 8 pounds of cocaine in their possession.

Daval Byrams, 22, of Troy, and Angel M. Madera, 30, of Rensselaer, were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Troopers from the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit located the suspects walking in the area of State Street in Schenectady at about 9:30 p.m. on March 11.

According to police, the men were interviewed as part of an active and ongoing drug investigation.

Further investigation revealed they possessed approximately 8 pounds of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine, which was seized.

Both suspects were processed at State Police Latham and transported to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
