BRUNSWICK — A fuel truck rollover on Interstate 295 in Brunswick early Wednesday has closed one lane and caused significant diesel leakage, according to Maine State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:43 a.m. when a 2020 Kenworth fuel truck owned by Irving Oil Company left the roadway and overturned at mile marker 26 northbound.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia of Cape Elizabeth, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities report approximately 2,400 gallons of off-road diesel leaked as a result of the crash.
While the vehicle has been removed from the scene, Clean Harbors and Maine Department of Environmental Protection personnel are managing fuel cleanup efforts.
The travel lane will remain closed for much of the day until cleanup operations are complete.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes.
