ATHENS — A 19-year-old Athens resident was arrested Monday on multiple felony charges related to child sexual exploitation, according to New York State Police.

Cody Gogger faces 39 counts of possessing obscene sexual performance by a child under 16, a class E felony, and one count of acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17, a class A misdemeanor.

Authorities accuse Gogger of possessing and accessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

The investigation began after officials received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, leading to the execution of a search warrant at Gogger’s Athens residence on Jan. 9.

State Police said the arrest resulted from a joint investigation involving the Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, the State Police Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Catskill, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Following his arrest, Gogger was transported to State Police Catskill for processing.

He was arraigned in Athens Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

Gogger is scheduled to appear in court on April 3 at 3 p.m.
