GROVELAND — A Monroe County resident faces felony charges after allegedly stealing a construction loader and abandoning it in a Groveland farm field, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
On Dec. 3, 2024, a passerby on Mill Gully Road discovered a CASE 721C loader that had been reported stolen from a business on Jefferson Road in Henrietta two days earlier.
Sheriff’s deputies confirmed the theft, launching a joint investigation between the Livingston and Monroe County Sheriff’s Offices.
Investigators allege that David Tallman Jr., 46, stole the loader in the early morning hours of Dec. 1, 2024, and drove it to Groveland where he left it in a farmer’s field.
On March 7, deputies arrested Tallman and charged him with felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Second Degree.
Tallman was processed at the Livingston County Jail and arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of West Sparta Justice Mahany.
The District Attorney’s Office recommended Tallman be held without bail, citing his two prior felony convictions.
Justice Mahany remanded Tallman to the custody of the Sheriff without bail pending further court proceedings.
