HOLYOKE — Holyoke police arrested three people and seized crack cocaine and heroin/fentanyl during an operation at a South Summer Street parking lot, officials said Wednesday.
The arrests occurred around 12:05 p.m. Tuesday when task force officers entered a parking lot at 529 South Summer Street, according to Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan.
Officers observed three individuals near a dumpster, one of whom fled the scene.
Police recovered six bags of heroin/fentanyl from a woman identified as Sadie Schlegel, 25, of Springfield, who was subsequently arrested.
Officers also found 22 vials of crack cocaine under the dumpster, while another subject who remained at the scene was released.
When approaching a nearby vehicle, officers spotted a crack pipe on the floor and conducted a search.
The search yielded 25 vials of crack cocaine, 16 bags of heroin/fentanyl and more than $1,300 in cash, leading to the arrests of the driver, Kenney Aponte, 34, and passenger Jesmarie Rolon, 35, both of Holyoke.
At the police station, officers discovered three additional vials of crack cocaine and 10 suboxone strips in Rolon’s possession.
Aponte and Rolon face multiple charges including conspiracy to violate drug law, possession with intent to distribute Class A and Class B drugs, and possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
Schlegel was charged with possession of a Class A drug.
