CUMBERLAND — A 40-year-old Pawtucket man was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly stealing a safe containing a substantial amount of cash from his employer.

Basilio D. Andrade was taken into custody without incident in front of Jahn’s Metal Craft at 4 Carl Street, where he was employed.

The theft was reported on March 5 when Cumberland police responded to the business after learning a large safe containing cash had been stolen.

Detectives and uniformed officers gathered video evidence and witness statements from the neighborhood, which led them to identify Andrade as the primary suspect.

Andrade has been charged with entry of a building with felonious intent under Rhode Island General Law 11-8-3.

He is currently being held pending arraignment.

According to police, Andrade has two prior breaking and entering convictions in Rhode Island, along with additional minor arrests in his criminal history.
