Child dies after car strikes tree in Lancaster

LANCASTER — A 7-year-old boy died from injuries sustained when the vehicle he was riding in crashed into a tree Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster.

The Lancaster Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash near 5849 Broadway in the Town of Lancaster at 2:50 p.m. on March 11.

Emergency responders found a single vehicle that had left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Life-saving measures were initiated at the scene for the child passenger, who was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The 29-year-old male driver is cooperating with investigators, and no charges have been filed at this time.

The Lancaster Police Department accident investigation unit continues to investigate the incident, and potential charges will be determined based on evidence and investigation outcomes.
