Arkport man arrested for violating court order, endangering children

CANISTEO — A 45-year-old Arkport man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly violating a court order of protection and endangering children.

Kevin J. Tibbits faces multiple charges including aggravated criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony, and aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

Tibbits was also charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.

The Canisteo Village Police Department made the arrest following a complaint that Tibbits had violated terms of a court order involving a protected party.

An arrest warrant was issued by the Steuben County Court prior to Tibbits being apprehended on State Route 961F in Arkport.

After processing at the Canisteo Police Department, Tibbits was transported to Steuben County Court for arraignment.

The court set bail and Tibbits was transferred to the Steuben County Jail.

New York State Police, New York State Parole, and the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
