Sugar shack fire in Barrington extinguished, no injuries reported

BARRINGTON — A structure fire involving a sugar shack on Hobson Road in the Town of Barrington was extinguished Monday morning with no injuries reported.

Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene at 8:21 a.m. on March 10, according to Sgt. K. Campbell.

Multiple fire departments including Dundee, Himrod, Penn Yan and Benton assisted in containing the blaze to a single structure.

The sugar shack was unoccupied at the time of the fire, officials said.

Deputy Crofoot was on scene representing the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Yates County Fire Investigation Team, who took over the scene after the fire was extinguished.
