SARATOGA — State Police arrested a 26-year-old Saratoga man on felony charges related to child sexual exploitation following an investigation that began with a cyber tip.
Benjamin H. Phillips was taken into custody at 10 a.m. March 7 after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence.
Phillips faces charges of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.
The arrest was a joint effort by State Police of Saratoga, the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Authorities said the investigation stemmed from a tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
After processing at the State Police Saratoga station, Phillips was arraigned at Saratoga Town Court.
He was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash, $5,000 bond, or a $50,000 partially secured bond.
