Salamanca police report multiple traffic violations, arrests in three-day period

SALAMANCA — The Salamanca Police Department reported multiple traffic violations, accidents and arrests during the period of March 8-10.

On March 8, officers issued three universal traffic tickets for speeding in zone, operating without tail lamps, and operating without stop lamps to motorists within the city.

Police also reported one motor vehicle accident in a private parking lot involving one motor vehicle and private property, with property damage only.

On March 9, three universal traffic tickets were issued to a bicyclist within the city for failure to use bicycle lane, no lights, and no bell/signal device.

Jayme Otero, 48, of Salamanca, was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1% or more of alcohol in blood, and issued citations for operating a motor vehicle on public highway while using mobile device, uninspected motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, failed to use designated lane, and obstructed vision, following a traffic stop investigation.

Otero was processed and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Salamanca City Court on a later date, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Joleen Pierce, 43, of Salamanca, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree and issued a citation for speeding, following a traffic stop investigation.

On March 10, Jesse Martin, 41, of Little Valley, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree and issued a citation for speeding, following a traffic stop investigation.

Police reported a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles in a parking lot with no injuries, only property damage.

Another motor vehicle accident occurred on Wildwood Ave involving two motor vehicles, where a vehicle was struck from the rear behind a line of traffic where a school bus stopped for drop off, resulting in property damage and a complaint of minor injury.

Michael Havers, 57, of Salamanca, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant out of the City of Salamanca for criminal trespass in the 2nd degree.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
