Loose cows on state highway lead to criminal charge in Middlesex

MIDDLESEX — A local man was issued an appearance ticket Sunday night after multiple motorists complained about his cows wandering onto a state highway.

Mikhail Furdey, 58, of Middlesex, was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance at approximately 9 p.m. on March 9.

According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy McGuigan issued the ticket after receiving reports of loose cows in or crossing State Route 245.

Furdey will answer to the charge in Middlesex Town Court at a later date.

The incident was reported to authorities at 9 p.m. and the appearance ticket was issued at approximately 9:08 p.m.
