NEWFANE — An unidentified male burglarized the home of a 92-year-old woman Monday morning after forcing his way inside when she answered the door, state police said.
The Vermont State Police received a report of the burglary at approximately 7:11 a.m. on March 10.
The victim, Sylvia Kinney, told police she was alone in her Newfane residence when the incident occurred.
According to investigators, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the suspect knocked on Kinney’s door asking for assistance.
When Kinney opened the door, the male entered her home and threatened to harm her.
The intruder demanded cash, drugs and a cell phone before fleeing with several items, including a ring he removed from Kinney’s finger.
Police believe the suspect may have left the scene in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle.
