2 Ottawa men arrested on drug charges at Massena border crossing

MASSENA — Two Ottawa men were arrested on multiple drug charges after U.S. Customs and Border agents discovered narcotics during an inspection at the Port of Entry on March 8.

State Police responded to the border crossing at approximately 4:13 p.m. following reports of two individuals involved with narcotics.

Logan Mackenzie Dyer-Charleboise, 28, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Alexander J. Herbert, 28, faces more serious charges including two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a narcotic drug in the fourth degree, one count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

The arrests occurred after border agents discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia during a secondary inspection.

Both men were transported to SP Massena for processing.

Dyer-Charleboise was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Massena Court later this month.

Herbert was arraigned in the Town of Massena Court and released on his own recognizance.

Following his arraignment, Herbert was turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for further investigation.
