DOVER — A Somersworth man was arrested Sunday after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash while naked and disrupting traffic on Route 16.

New Hampshire State Police received multiple reports of a naked man walking in travel lanes on the highway around 3:15 p.m. on March 9.

Troopers from the Troop A barracks, with assistance from Dover Police Department officers, located and took the man into custody.

Authorities identified him as Shawn P. Weiner Sr., 35, of Somersworth.

Weiner was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in a crash.

Investigators determined Weiner had been involved in a crash on Varney Road in Dover before fleeing on foot.

The vehicle involved in the crash had reportedly been stolen in Somersworth shortly before the incident.

Police said Weiner discarded his clothing on the highway shoulder before crossing all lanes of traffic.

State Police charged Weiner with indecent exposure and lewdness, reckless conduct, two counts of disorderly conduct, and littering.

He was issued a summons to appear in Dover District Court on May 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Dover Police Department separately investigated the crash and filed additional charges, maintaining custody of Weiner.

The vehicle theft remains under investigation by Somersworth Police Department.
