EAST WINDSOR — Police are searching for a 26-year-old East Windsor man whose car was found submerged in the Connecticut River in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

Daniel Callahan was reported missing Sunday after he failed to return home from a party Saturday night, according to East Windsor police.

Family members told investigators that Callahan was last seen leaving a party in Chicopee at approximately 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police said attempts to contact Callahan have been unsuccessful, and he has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.

Chicopee police responded to a report of a male in the Connecticut River around 12:30 a.m. Sunday but found no one at the scene.

When detectives returned to the area of Walter Street at 10:30 a.m., they discovered evidence suggesting a vehicle had been driven into the river.

Dive teams, including the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team, located Callahan’s black Toyota Camry in 18 feet of water, but no occupants were found in the vehicle.

The car, registered to Callahan’s father with Connecticut plate AJ14375, was identified as the vehicle Callahan was last seen driving.

East Windsor police are working with Chicopee detectives as the investigation continues.
