CLIFTON — A 19-year-old man faces multiple charges after a head-on collision that left several people injured Saturday evening in Clifton.
Penobscot County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on Airline Road at approximately 8:05 p.m. on March 8.
Upon arrival, deputies found a female driver trapped in a black SUV with serious injuries.
The Eddington Fire Department extracted the woman from the vehicle, and she was airlifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center for emergency treatment.
A 17-year-old passenger in the pickup truck sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries, while two other passengers received minor injuries.
All injured passengers were transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Investigators determined that a Ford pickup truck crossed the centerline, causing the collision with the SUV.
Kyle Gray, 19, of Harborside, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated driving to endanger, and operating without a license beyond restrictions.
Deputies executed a search warrant to obtain Gray’s blood for testing at a local hospital before transporting him to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remains in custody.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Holden Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
