NORWOOD — Police are investigating reports of a man attempting to pass counterfeit $100 bills at local businesses.

The suspect was seen around 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8 in Norwood, according to a statement from the Village of Norwood Police Department.

Authorities said employees at one business identified the fake currency before accepting it.

Police are asking any businesses that may have received $100 bills recently or have seen the suspect to contact the department at 315-353-2131.

Law enforcement officials reminded merchants to check paper money for signs of counterfeiting and to contact police if they have concerns about potentially fraudulent currency.
