CHICOPEE — Police are searching for a man who reportedly walked into a river early Tuesday and was heard calling for help.
Witnesses reported seeing a bald man wearing a dark shirt walking on Walter Street around 12:30 a.m. before he entered the water.
After hearing calls for help, witnesses contacted emergency services, according to the Chicopee Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the individual.
The department’s Underwater Recovery Team and Drone Unit searched for several hours without success.
Authorities plan to resume the search later Tuesday morning.
