Man stabbed at housing development, 2 arrested in Fall River

FALL RIVER — A man was stabbed in the chest during an altercation at a local housing development Friday night, leading to two arrests, police said.

Officers responded to the Cottell Heights Housing Development at approximately 8:45 p.m. on March 7 after receiving reports of a male suffering from a stab wound.

Emergency medical personnel provided immediate aid before transporting the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in stable but critical condition.

Investigators followed a trail of blood evidence to 75 Raymond Street, which was determined to be where the stabbing occurred.

Barry Cabral, 48, was taken into custody and charged with assault and battery with serious bodily injury.

Cabral is being held on $50,000 bail.

Erik Getchell, 31, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, along with multiple outstanding warrants.

Police credited citizens who called 911 and provided medical aid before first responders arrived.
