BENTON — An elderly woman was airlifted to a Rochester hospital after her vehicle went off the road, became airborne and struck a tree Friday morning in Yates County.
Kathleen McCabe, 78, of Bluff Point, suffered facial injuries in the single-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:06 a.m. on Route 14A in the town of Benton.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, McCabe was traveling north on Route 14A when her vehicle veered off the east shoulder of the road and struck shrubs.
The vehicle continued north off the roadway before becoming airborne and rolling, then striking a tree.
Deputies said the vehicle came to rest facing south.
McCabe was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Yates County deputies responded to the scene along with Penn Yan Ambulance, Benton Fire Department and the Office of Emergency Management.
