BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit arrested a 22-year-old Revere man on firearm and drug charges Friday after finding a loaded handgun with an extended magazine during a traffic stop.
Davien Fuentes was taken into custody at about 2:25 p.m. following what police described as a suspected street-level drug transaction in South Boston.
Officers patrolling near Virginia Street and Davern Street reported observing a vehicle parked in a handicap spot without a placard.
Police said they watched a man exit 24 Gavin Way, approach the vehicle, retrieve an item and conceal it in his pocket before returning to the building as the vehicle drove away.
Officers followed the vehicle and conducted a stop near 530 Columbia Road, where they observed multiple packages of marijuana in a backpack.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a Glock 26 handgun with an extended magazine containing 27 rounds of ammunition from underneath the driver’s seat.
Officers also seized 22 plastic bags of marijuana and approximately $1,657 in cash.
Fuentes faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and possession with intent to distribute Class D substances.
He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
