Waterbury, CT police seize drugs, taser in early morning raid

WATERBURY — Police arrested two individuals and seized 175 bags of heroin/fentanyl during an early morning raid at a Willow Street apartment on Feb. 28.

Members of the Waterbury Police Department’s Gang Task Force, Vice and Intelligence Unit, Auto Theft Task Force and State Police Violent Crimes Task Force executed several search and seizure warrants at approximately 7 a.m.

The warrants targeted 174 Willow St. Apt B3, a black Ford Explorer, and Tramain Williams, 48, of Waterbury.

During the operation, officers seized a taser, drug paraphernalia and $948 in U.S. currency in addition to the narcotics.

Norma Melendez, 44, of Waterbury, was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Williams faces the same charges plus criminal possession of a defense weapon.

Williams remains in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Corrections on a $50,000 bond.
