BENSON — A three-vehicle collision on Route 22a near East Road Thursday evening left one person injured and one vehicle totaled, according to Vermont State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:23 p.m. when Devin Pellot, 20, of Passaic, NJ, attempted to pass another southbound vehicle in his 1990 Ford Bronco.
Pellot was unable to complete the passing maneuver safely and lost control while trying to reenter the southbound lane, police said.
The Bronco sideswiped a northbound 2012 Toyota Prius driven by Sierra Butler, 21, of South Burlington, causing Butler’s vehicle to leave the roadway.
Pellot’s vehicle then struck a 2008 Hyundai Elantra driven by Ashlee Curavoo, 31, of Castleton, who was also traveling northbound.
Curavoo sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Her vehicle was totaled in the crash.
Neither Pellot nor Butler reported injuries, though Pellot’s Bronco sustained significant damage and Butler’s Prius had moderate damage.
All drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to police.
Benson Fire Department and Fair Haven Rescue assisted troopers at the scene.
Civil violation charges are pending, state police said.
