FITCHBURG — The Fitchburg Police Department is searching for Ruth Encarnacion, Isael Rivera and five children after issuing warrants for custodial kidnapping against the adults.
The children range in age from 10 years old to 9 months.
Police began investigating after receiving a missing person report for Encarnacion on March 3.
The Department of Children and Families reported her five children missing on March 5, prompting Massachusetts State Troopers from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office to join the investigation.
Authorities believe the family is traveling in a black 2018 Infiniti QX60 with Massachusetts registration 5GCX18.
Police have obtained warrants charging both Encarnacion and Rivera with five counts each of custodial kidnapping of a minor by a relative.
Officials considered an AMBER Alert but determined the situation did not meet criteria, as such alerts are not intended for parental kidnapping cases without specific information about children in imminent danger.
The Fitchburg Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation is working with Massachusetts State Police detectives on the case.
Anyone with information about the family’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Fitchburg Police Department Detective Bureau at 978-345-9650.
