Man arrested in Cortland with fentanyl, cocaine

CORTLAND — A man was arrested Monday after fleeing from officers during a narcotics investigation in Cortland, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Jody R. Minor, 43, was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Officers found Minor in possession of 229 bags of fentanyl and four bags of cocaine with an approximate street value of $1,200, authorities said.

Minor also had packaging material and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency when arrested, according to the sheriff’s office.

The arrest occurred at 12:34 p.m. during an operation by the Cortland County Drug Task Force.

Officials said Minor had an active bench warrant from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and an active arrest warrant from the New York State Police.

Minor faces two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, along with misdemeanor charges of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and resisting arrest.

He was processed at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. Monday.

Minor was remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on March 12 at 10 a.m.
