BOSTON — Boston police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Dorchester nearly two years ago.
Amari Williams, 21, of Acada, Georgia, was taken into custody Thursday at Boston Police Headquarters at approximately 2:35 p.m., according to officials.
Williams faces charges of murder and carrying a firearm without a license related to the May 22, 2023, shooting death of Daniel T. Mayers, 33, of Haverhill.
The shooting occurred at approximately 4:57 p.m. when officers responded to reports of shots fired near 264 Columbia Road.
Upon arrival, officers found Mayers suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Mayers was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Williams is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.
