WILLET — An 84-year-old Willet man was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony charges including rape following an investigation into sexual abuse allegations.
Donald R. Griest of Bloody Pond Road was charged with two counts of first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office received a report in November 2024 about sexual abuse allegations that reportedly occurred between January 2022 and November 2024 at a location in the Town of Willet.
Investigators determined that Griest had subjected a victim known to him to inappropriate sexual contact during that period.
Griest was arrested at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday and processed at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. and released on his own recognizance.
Griest is scheduled to appear in Willet Town Court on March 6 at 6 p.m.
