Needham police respond to series of community incidents

NEEDHAM — Needham police reported a series of incidents over the past week, addressing various community concerns.

On Feb. 24 at approximately 1:31 p.m., a Hunnewell Street resident reported receiving a suspicious package, which was investigated and disposed of as non-threatening.

Later that day, around 2:08 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on West Street for a hands-free violation. The operator, a 26-year-old man from Brighton lacking a valid license, will be summoned for driving without a license and operating with an electronic device.

At 3:45 p.m., a Rhode Island resident reported a missing shipped item intended for delivery, which was noted for reimbursement.

By 6:39 p.m., an officer addressed a fraudulent state tax return filed under a Burr Drive resident’s name.

On Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m., a Rosemary Street resident reported neighbor issues in a walk-in report.

At 7:30 p.m., property damage was documented at a Webster Street residence.

On Feb. 26 around 7:00 p.m., a Linden Street resident reported ongoing neighbor harassment.

Feb. 27 saw a report of past identity fraud from a Sachem Road resident at 10:45 a.m.

At 1:19 p.m., officers responded to a B Street address for legal process assistance.

Minutes later, at 1:23 p.m., a Highland Avenue business reported a past disturbance involving vehicle damage and verbal assault.

Feb. 28 activities included an officer noticing a suspicious vehicle on Greendale Avenue at 1:40 p.m., leading to a report for documentation.

Earlier, at 12:56 p.m., a lost license was reported by a 2nd Avenue resident.

Later, at 2:35 p.m., a Chambers Street resident agreed to cease harassing phone calls to an out-of-state bank after police advisement.

At 2:30 p.m., officers assisted with a suspicious item at a B Street address.

At 4:40 p.m., a Parkinson Street resident reported a suspicious letter.

A disturbance on Pickering Street occurred at 7:02 p.m. and was addressed by an officer.

By 10:27 p.m., officers responded to a verbal altercation among juveniles on Robinwood Avenue.

On March 1, at 8:47 a.m., a Warren Street resident reported harassing calls, receiving advice on resolution.

At 4:55 p.m., a suspicious juvenile on Highland Avenue with marijuana had the items seized and parents notified.

At 8:06 p.m., a Central Avenue disturbance led to a 12-year-old being summonsed to juvenile court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Early on March 2, at 1:48 a.m., a Chestnut Street suspicious item report was deemed a misunderstanding.

At 2:33 p.m., a Highland Avenue motor vehicle violation led to a brief pursuit. A 20-year-old Needham man faces charges for refusing to stop, a red-light violation, and a hands-free violation.

There were no reportable arrests for this period.
