SEABROOK — A Seabrook police officer has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest in a neighboring Massachusetts community.

Officer John Giarrusso was arrested by the Haverhill Police Department on Monday, March 3, according to a statement released by Seabrook police officials.

The Seabrook Police Department did not disclose the nature of the charges against Giarrusso.

Officials stated that while they adhere to the principle that those accused of crimes are innocent until proven guilty, the nature of the accusations prompted immediate administrative action.

“The Seabrook Police Department strives to uphold the highest standards of conduct in our staff both on and off duty,” the statement read.

The department declined to discuss further personnel actions that might be taken.

Seabrook police officials said they will continue to cooperate with Haverhill investigators as the case progresses through the legal system.
