Guilty plea entered in Saratoga Springs drug case

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Mauro Esparza-Gutierrez, 39, of Mexico, pled guilty to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in Saratoga Springs during the 2024 track season.

Esparza-Gutierrez, who worked at the Saratoga Race Course, admitted to receiving meth shipments hidden in horse trailers and distributing the drugs.

He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine at his sentencing on July 1.

This is the second guilty plea in the case.

Nelson Moran, a Guatemalan citizen, also pled guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
