CONGERS — A fatal vehicle accident Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a 42-year-old New Jersey man after a collision involving two vehicles near Route 303 and Hemlock Drive, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m., prompting officers to respond to the scene where a Peterbilt dump truck was found blocking both lanes of Route 303.
A white Kia Soul, driven by the victim, was located off the roadway in a grassy area facing southbound, having sustained significant damage.
Life-saving efforts were initiated by the officers and continued by the Congers-Valley Cottage Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics.
Despite these efforts, the man was pronounced dead at Nyack Montefiore Hospital.
His identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
No other injuries were reported, and the truck driver stayed at the scene.
The Clarkstown Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
