MONTPELIER — A Middlesex man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a family member’s home and later attempting to enter a healthcare facility while covered in blood.
Travis McGurran, 48, faces charges of burglary, unlawful mischief, and aggravated disorderly conduct following the March 4 incident.
Officers responded to Heaton Street at approximately 7:27 p.m. after reports of a blood-covered man attempting to enter a locked healthcare facility door while making incoherent statements about a home invasion and gunshots.
Upon arrival, police identified McGurran, who appeared disoriented and under the influence.
McGurran claimed a family member’s residence on Woodrow Avenue was being burglarized, but investigation revealed he had allegedly unlawfully entered the unoccupied home himself, causing significant damage.
Police said McGurran also displayed violent, tumultuous, and threatening behavior at the healthcare facility, damaging an exterior door.
After being medically evaluated, McGurran was taken into custody.
A Vermont Superior Court Judge imposed a $1,000 cash bail.
McGurran was transported to the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility due to lack of bail.
He is scheduled for arraignment in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on March 5 at 12:30 p.m.
